Mini Project #1

So, this is my first project post since November. Yeah! It feels very good to get back into an old rythm. I do need it to keep myself busy....well, at least most of the time. Relaxing is fun but so is creating and decorating. I really do enjoy myself when I'm creating.

I was thinking of doing another category. Mini projects. I'm categorizing Sneak Peek projects as those that require "hard work" such as sanding, drilling, priming, painting, varnishing, hammering, hours of work, etc. Sadly, I don't have very many of those - boo hooey. As for the mini projects, well, I'll categorize them as glue gunning, light sewing, minimal painting, decoupaging, etc. And I do have a lot of those - yeah! However, I don't think they will be sneak peeky.

So with that being said, let me continue with my first project post.

This umbrella (picture above) looked like my plastic, grass skirt patio umbrella. Actually, mine was beige/cream in color. I couldn't find a picture of my umbrella in my own photo files or on the web, so this pink umbrella kind of gives you an idea. Well, due to mother nature, the grass skirt needed a "mowing". So here's what it looks like now.

Not very pretty. Most peeps would just toss this ugly thing. Nope, not me. So I went to my local thrift store for some ideas. What do you get with this and this?

Again, the pics aren't that great. The lighting in my kitchen and living room isn't that great.

Tada or voila!

I just bought a round ivory tablecloth and sewed a pom-pom trim around the edge of it. That's it. Easy Peasy. Now, this umbrella will last a very long time. Plus, I can always try to find round tablecloths in many different colors and designs to change the patio mood. I'm now on the hunt for a pink, white, rosey, and lacey tablecloths. I can already imagine ruffles or fringe trims on them.

I can't wait to post this on Friday's Show & Tell on Cindy's My Romantic Home and on Thursday's Transformation Thursday on The Shabby Chic Cottage.

Until then,

My Outdoor Chandelier

This isn't a pretty chandelier I must admit. For me, it seems a bit too angular. I bought this chandelier at a flea market roughly twelve years ago. Well, immediately after I brought it home, I realized it wasn't my style. At that time, I was really into and still am into French decor (although I think I over Frenched it...sometimes I wish I started with the vintage/shabby look....anyhoo), so I decided to put this chandelier in my shed. Now, twelve years later, my covered patio (or gazebo) needs lighting. Ding -ding -ding - Light bulb! That chandelier in my shed. Perfect! A chandelier will add a touch of feminity inside my patio. So this chandelier was repainted white and adorned with pink and white prisms. Now, I'm very frou frou. I would have adorned this baby to the hilt, but because it will be outside, I gave it my minimal adornments. So here it is! I'm so girly even outside of my house.

P.S. Sorry for the messy patio. I'm still working on it.

I'm getting a new gazebo!

Yeah!

Finally!

We have this gazebo in our backyard that's kinda being used as a storage tent. Well, there's no kinda, it is a storage container. Plus, my mother wanted me to purchase another gazebo so she could take mine. I almost did until I was browsing through an old copy of a 2006 Romantic Homes magazine. Lo and Behold, I saw the perfect gazebo. And I decided that I wanted one just like that...well, something somewhat similiar. Anyhoo, I batted my eyes and sweet-talked my husband and father into building me a gazebo. Actually, I guilted my husband. So starting next week, I'm getting my gazebo!! I'm so excited. I can't wait to fill it will all my lovely wrought iron patio furniture. I'm also going to install a chandelier inside of it. Oh, I'm excited writing about it.

I haven't done any shopping recently, and I don't think I will be until my gazebo is completed. This is good because it'll give me time to work on my zillion projects.

Until then.
